Connecticut is an all in state and the law requires an “equitable distribution” of marital assets. What that means is every asset you have at the time of divorce goes into the pot (with a few statutory exemptions) regardless of when and how you acquired that asset. The courts do tend to apply common sense on this issue under the “equitable distribution” clause, but the danger is there.
